Education Policy
Attendance
According to the
Regulations set forth by the Real Estate Commission; you must provide a
photo ID and sign in to enter the classroom; you must arrive ON TIME
and remain the entire class time to receive Continuing Education Credit or
Clock Hours – NO EXCEPTIONS! ON TIME means you must be signed in and seated by the time
class starts. There is NO GRACE PERIOD! You may not leave the class
time for more than 5 minutes during a 60 minute period other than class
breaks - a PASS will be provided by the monitor. If you arrive late or do not remain the entire class,
you may be able to attend the class, but you will not be eligible for any
“refund, clock hours, or otherwise credit or refund whatsoever.” You
must sign out at the conclusion of the class.
Classroom Conduct
Your full attention must
be given to the instructor and class materials. No reading materials other
than those pertaining to the class will be permitted in the classroom. All cell phones and
electronic communication devises must be turned OFF (not
vibrate) while in class. Antitrust Laws will be obeyed.
Expenditure
All Continuing Education
fees paid are NON-Fundable. A Class credit may be available if you cancel by
calling HCAR 410-569-0750 at least 48 hours in advance. NO CHARGE Classes
have A NO-SHOW FEE if you do not cancel by calling HCAR 410-569-0750 at
least 48 hours in advance and do not attend the class.
Inclement
Weather Policy
If Harford
County Public Schools are CLOSED then all meetings and events will be
canceled and the association office will be CLOSED (except any designation
classes which will run on time)
If Harford County Public
Schools are DELAYED then all morning meetings and events will be
canceled and the association office opening will be DELAYED (except
any designation classes which will run on time). All afternoon meetings and
events would run on time. We will have a message system advising otherwise
at 410-569-0750. Mark Wilson, EVP may be contacted at 410-382-3759 (Cell)
if needed. Everyone should exercise common sense and not risk their safety
or others unnecessarily.

The schedules below show the number of hours
and course content required to renew a Standard real estate
license. Continuing education is completed during the term
of the license and prior to submitting a renewal
application. Licensees renewing on inactive status may
postpone continuing education hours until reactivation, but
must complete all hours due for each renewal period prior to
submitting a reactivation application. You must renew to
remain inactive!
IF YOUR LICENSE EXPIRES ON OR AFTER
10/2/08, HOURS NEEDED ARE:
- Residential (ALL LICENSEES): 15 hours including
3.0 legislative, 1.5 fair housing, 3.0 ethics
(required classes)
- Commercial Designation (SOLELY - NO RESIDENTIAL
BUSINESS): 15 hours including 3.0 legislative & 3.0
ethics (required classes)
- Licensees with a graduate degree in law or real
estate from an accredited college or university
(must supply documentation at audit): 7.5 hours
(3.0 legislative, 3.0 Maryland ethics and 1.5 fair
housing (residential); if solely commercial, 7.5
hours including 3.0 legislative 3.0 Maryland ethics
and 1.5 elective) (required classes)
- Legislative topic (a), fair housing topic
(c), and ethics topic (d) are required Maryland
courses.
The ethics course must include MD Code of Ethics,
Flipping and Predatory Lending.
- Effective January 1, 2012 Agency topic (h) 3.0
hours is required
- Effective January 1, 2010 Supervision for
Brokers, Branch Office Managers and Team Leaders
topic (i) 3.0 hours is required
Approved Maryland Education Providers
If you hold a license in another state,
hours may be considered toward your Maryland electives. To
find out, fax the out-of-state CE course completion
certificate(s) for approval at least 30 days prior to
renewal to the Education Administrator, 410-333-0023;
include your out-of-state license number as well as a return
fax number. Sorry, "postlicensing" courses from other states
are not recognized for Maryland CE.
